The "Sailboat" Stadium

Originally introduced in 2008, the stadium shown above, refered to by it's critics as the "sailboat" stadium, was introduced as the future home of the Rays until voters rejected the proposal, leaving the stadium nothing more than a drawing today.  However, the stadium offered many features that were state of the art, and when the Rays do start planning a stadium again, they should look into their previous idea.  The stadium featured a retractable fabric roof, a cheap yet effective way to keep the elements out while still offering a completely open air feeling.  The canvas that was chosen for the original project had the ability to lower the temperature of the area under it by up to twenty degrees.  The canvas also blocked 99.9% of harmful rays from the sun.  Priced at around four hundred and fifty million, the stadium would offer seating for just over thirty thousand.  Few details about the seating arangement and fan amenities within the park were released, so the stadium is still open to customization.  The stadium offers a very modern style, one fitting for a team that is still only a couple decades old and lacking in much history.  If built, this stadium would be the first of its kind in all of baseball, attracting fans and companies alike to purchase tickets and enjoy the true pleasure of baseball.
